The DGCIS, in partnership with INSEE, published a study on the attendance rate of tourist accommodations in 2013.
According to the study’s results, attendance in tourist accommodations is seeing a slight increase compared to 2012 (+0.7%) thanks to foreign customers (+4.8 %).
Campsites and tourist residences are positively impacted by this increase, while overnight stays by foreign guests in hotels are less popular.
The increase in foreign attendance benefits coastal and urban areas, including Paris and its suburbs, adds the DGCIS .
Non-European customers now represent 33% of foreign overnight stays against 27% in 2010. Visitors from Asia and the Americas are also contributing to this upward trend.
The impact of European customers is less important, insists the DGCIS.
For its part, French attendance has dropped (-1, 2%) despite an increase in the attendance of campsites and tourist residences.
