Meuse, Champagne-Ardennes, Somme, Nord-Pas de Calais, High Alsace... Memorial sites experienced an increase in visitors in 2014, a true “centennial” effect.

The establishment of a Destination Contract “Centennial of the Great War,” late 2013, has allowed the regions of the West Front to increase their rate of international visitors, specifies Atout France in a statement.

“Beyond the clientele of neighboring markets (British, German, Belgian, Dutch) that is also present, professionals have noticed a significant increase in the number long-haul visitors (Canadians, Americans, Australians.)

Some sites of the Western Front had their visitor rates double, exceeding by August the rates of the whole 2013 year.”

Accommodation professional are also noticing high reservation anticipations for 2015 and even 2016.
