Aube: new hiking tour following the footsteps of the Templars

“Located just outside of Troyes, this natural park has kept all the Templar mystery with its thick forest, large lakes and ponds. A marked trail of 5 km, accessible to all levels, by foot or bike, is now outlined with 11 illustrated and informational signs. These signs explain to hikers why and how the templars organized themselves in managing this forest, the largest one to ever be acquired in the Occident.

Many visits of emblematic sites are organized to dig deeper into the history of the Templars in Aube: the Commandery of Avalleur, the Templiers-Hugues de Payns museum, a guided visit of the city of Troyes, the Clairvaux abbey…

Several itineraries are available in the Aube region for hikers eager to live new experiences and admire beautiful landscapes.

Indeed, the department has 1700 km of trails at the heart of nature that are accessible for hikers of all levels,” explains Marine Musset from the Aube CDT.
