Passenger Terminal Expo in Barcelona (25 - 27 March 2014)

As a leading provider of Integrated Passenger Services, Materna ips is once again at the Passenger Terminal Expo in Barcelona this year (25 - 27 March 2014). The show stand will focus in part on innovations in terms of biometric data recording for check-in and self-boarding. At its show stand, no. 1426, Materna ips will be showcasing the new "PHOENIX" check-in machines and giving visitors the chance to test the equipment now provided exclusively by the Dortmund-based IT specialists.

Materna ips has incorporated the "Hardware" division into its portfolio for airlines and airports and now offers its customers not only the tried and tested CUSS applications but also the necessary machines.

Materna also offers kiosk maintenance at the airports. In order to guarantee prompt, flexible service, the company has its own service technicians to ensure all processes run smoothly.

Live in Barcelona for the first time Materna is introducing its new "PHOENIX" airline machines at PTE.

The latest-generation kiosk has a whole host of technical features and convincing benefits, including a paper supply which is enough to print up to 4000 boarding passes and 600 bag tags, making it particularly low-maintenance.

It can also be fitted with an optional payment function. This makes the PHOENIX kiosk ideal both for check-in and for automatic baggage check-in. Visitors to the show can test the machines live on the Materna stand.

Biometric facial recognition for increased security

Materna has responded to market requirements and extended its solutions to incorporate biometric data recording components.

On customer request, the new Materna kiosks can be fitted with a camera for facial recognition.

When the passenger checks in using the machines, the built-in camera is used to take a photo for comparison which is then processed in the database.

Facial recognition can also be integrated into the Materna self-boarding solution. Biometric data recording not only improves secure access for the passengers, it also allows faster processing through the gate.

Show guests can also test the biometric facial recognition live at the Materna stand.

Common use self-service for baggage check-in

There is a constant increase in the demand for automatic baggage check-in systems.

Materna has already successfully installed numerous self bag drop stations for German company Lufthansa. But the latest generation of drop-off solutions is interesting not only for airlines but also for airports.

Limited space and increasing passenger numbers necessitate simple, fast processes. Materna has been successfully offering these for years.

Based on the IATA CUSS standard, customer systems are constantly developed to consider the latest requirements in terms of design and technology for the airports.

Materna is showing a variant of this kind of modern self bag system at PTE.
